In first quarter of 2024 ، Apple looses no 1 position as they have shipped 50.1m iPhones, about 10% less from the 55.4m units it shipped same period last year .

According the reaearch, global smartphone shipments increased 7.8% to 289.4 million units during January-March, with Samsung (005930.KS), at 20.8% market share, is on top so Samsung has become No. 1 smartphone company in terms of worldwide shipments.
Apple is back to the second spot, with 17.3% market share. While, Xiaomi, one of China’s top smartphone makers, occupied the third position with a market share of 14.1% during the first quarter.
Chinese companies like Xiaomi and Transsion are also gaining traction in the phone market, with Xiaomi experiencing a 33.8% increase in shipments and Transsion seeing an 84.9% increase in the first quarter.
Apple is facing challenges in China, with iPhone revenue dropping by 13% in the first quarter and expected to decline further. This decline underscores the obstacles encountered by the US firm in its third-largest market, including restrictions imposed by some Chinese companies and government agencies on the use of Apple devices, reminiscent of US government measures against Chinese apps citing security concerns.
The Cupertino, California-based company in June will hold its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), where it will highlight updates to the software powering iPhones, iPads, and other Apple devices.
Investors are closely watching for updates on artificial intelligence development at Apple, which has so far spoken little about incorporating the AI technology into its devices. The company earlier this year lost the crown as the world’s most valuable company to Microsoft (MSFT.O).
