“Silence is complicity—so I won’t stay silent.” With these powerful words, actress Hannah Einbinder took the stage at the Human Rights Campaign event, using her Visibility Award speech to deliver a bold condemnation of the ongoing violence in Gaza.
“As a queer, Jewish, and American individual, I am horrified by the Israeli government’s massacre of over 65,000 Palestinians in Gaza,” Einbinder stated, criticizing U.S. tax dollars funding the conflict. “It should not be controversial to oppose the killing of civilians.”
She emphasized that questioning Israel’s actions aligns with Jewish values, rejecting the idea that criticism of the government threatens Jewish safety. Einbinder also denounced the Trump administration’s crackdown on pro-Palestine activists, highlighting the arrest of Columbia University graduate Mahmoud Khalil by ICE.
“Our fight for justice depends on opposing the corporations and institutions enabling mass violence,”
she declared, urging those with influence to speak out.
Einbinder joins a small group of celebrities, including Tilda Swinton and Basel Adra, who have used award platforms to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
