In a devastating and heartrending incident, a fire at a hospital in Uttar Pradesh has claimed the lives of 10 newborn babies, leaving their families shattered. The tragedy struck late last night when flames engulfed the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The news of this unimaginable loss has left the entire community in shock and sorrow.
District Magistrate (DM) Avinash Kumar confirmed the death of 10 babies, while 16 others remain in critical condition. At the time of the fire, 54 infants were being treated in the ICU. Though 44 babies were rescued, the heartbreaking reality remains that 16 are still fighting for their lives.
The fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in the oxygen unit of the ICU, and investigations are underway.
