Pakistan’s baseball team lit up Karaj, Iran on Tuesday with a stunning 14-1 thrashing of traditional rivals India, powering into the final of the West Asia Baseball Cup in style.
The semifinal clash was wrapped up in just seven innings as the mercy rule kicked in, thanks to Pakistan’s unstoppable dominance at the plate and on the mound.
The Green Shirts came out swinging, piling on five runs in both the first and third innings to crush India’s hopes early. Third baseman Hussain was electric, scoring four runs and driving in two with a 2-for-4 showing. Wasim Akram (CF) and Muhammad Rehan (DH) joined the hit parade, combining for four RBIs.
On the mound, Muhammad Haris held firm with 4.1 quality innings, giving up just one run and striking out four. Relievers Syed Muhib Shah and Hussain Imam were lights out, fanning five batters across 2.2 scoreless frames.
India, meanwhile, crumbled under pressure — committing 10 errors and handing out eight walks. Their lone run came in the first inning before Pakistan’s pitchers shut the door completely.
With this emphatic victory, Pakistan storms into Wednesday’s final against Palestine, determined to defend their West Asia crown.
In a celebratory message, Pakistan Federation Baseball President Syed Fakhar Ali Shah dedicated the win to the brave armed forces of Pakistan.
