Around 160 teams from 13 countries are participating in the tournament in junior categories
Karachi: Lyari Football Academy has continued its impressive winning streak, advancing to the semi-finals of the Singa Cup 2025, Asia’s largest youth football tournament, held in Singapore. The academy’s Under-16 team has now secured a place in the Final Four, showcasing Pakistan’s growing talent on the international stage.
In the quarter-finals, Lyari faced Indonesia’s Semen Padang FC in a nail-biting match. The game ended 0-0 after regular time, but Lyari clinched victory 3-2 in a penalty shootout, thanks to a crucial save by goalkeeper Kashif, who played a key role in the win.
Earlier, Lyari defeated Australia’s Ocean Reef SHS 6-0, displaying their dominance and tactical strength to reach the quarter-finals. The team is led by academy president Sheikh Abdul Rahman, who has been instrumental in mentoring these young players.
The 15th edition of the Singa Cup features Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, and Under-16 categories, with 160 teams from 13 countries competing. For the first time, Para-Football competitions are also included in this year’s tournament, running until November 9, 2025.
This achievement highlights Pakistan’s rising youth football talent and Lyari Football Academy’s dedication to producing world-class players.
