Some stars may burn bright for a moment but fail to leave a lasting impression. Sridevi, on the other hand, transcended mere popularity to become a true legend, revered not only for her stellar performances but also for the immense respect she commanded throughout her career.
Sridevi, often hailed as the queen of Indian cinema, was a figure who garnered admiration for both her extraordinary talent and the grace she brought to the industry.
In a recent interview, renowned Bollywood director Pankaj Parashar, who collaborated with Sridevi on ChaalBaaz (1989) and Meri Biwi Ka Jawaab Nahi (2004), shared his fond memories of working with her.
One memorable incident Parashar recalled took place during a break in the shooting at Film City. Actors Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Ranjit, and Shakti Kapoor were enjoying mutton biryani when Sridevi walked in. The moment the senior actors saw her, they immediately rose to their feet in respect, with Parashar noting that it felt as if a high-ranking military general had entered the room. This, he said, reflected her immense stature and the reverence she inspired.
Parashar also mentioned that while Sridevi initially kept a professional distance on set, once she understood his vision for the film, her attitude shifted, and their collaboration became even more seamless.
In ChaalBaaz, Sridevi’s remarkable portrayal of dual roles won her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, further solidifying her status as one of the finest talents the Indian film industry has ever seen.
