Next week, the Prime Ministers of Russia and China are set to visit Pakistan.
Diplomatic sources indicate that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin will arrive in Islamabad on October 14 to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
He will be accompanied by a delegation and a large contingent of Russian journalists.
During his stay, Mishustin will meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other senior Pakistani leaders, with a dinner also planned in his honor.
On the same day, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang will also arrive in Pakistan, leading a high-level delegation. His three-day visit will unfold in two phases.
In the first phase, Li Qiang will hold meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other top political leaders, and is also expected to meet with military officials.
The agenda will include discussions on Pakistan-China relations, new CPEC projects, security for Chinese personnel and projects, among other issues.
The second phase, starting on October 15, will involve multilateral meetings, including Li Qiang’s participation in the SCO summit on October 15-16, where he will represent China.
Several bilateral agreements are expected to be signed during this visit, which marks the first visit by a Chinese Prime Minister to Pakistan in 11 years.
