Sitting Too Long? Your Heart May Pay the Price

-

Prolonged sitting has been identified as a major risk factor for heart health, even among those who exercise regularly, according to health experts.

Researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital analyzed fitness tracker data from nearly 90,000 participants in the UK over seven days. They discovered that sitting or reclining for more than 10.5 hours a day significantly increases the risk of heart failure.

The study highlighted that even meeting the recommended 150 minutes of weekly exercise cannot offset the dangers of prolonged inactivity.

Dr. Sean Khurshid, co-senior author of the study, emphasized the need to reduce extended sitting periods to lower the risk of heart disease.
