From January to July 2024, Pakistan’s exports of fruit and juice to China have soared, reaching $1.546 million, according to the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).
This marks a significant 226% increase compared to the same period last year.
Ghulam Qadir, the Commercial Counselor at the Pakistan Embassy in China, attributed this growth to the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreements and the efforts of Pakistani exporters to tap into international markets.
China’s rising demand for nutritious fruits and juices has created a substantial opportunity for Pakistani producers.
Among the highlights, frozen orange juice exports alone surpassed $1.54 million.
Additionally, fresh mangoes from Pakistan are gaining traction, with 4,214 kg imported by Chinese businesses in the first seven months of the year. Notably, Pakistani mangoes were also presented to Chinese leaders and enterprises as gifts.
Wei Ling Chen, Regional Director at Direct Access Chinese Enterprise, emphasized the rigorous selection process for Pakistani mangoes, focusing on varieties like Sindhri and Chaunsa, known for their exceptional taste. She noted that while Pakistani mangoes may not have uniform appearances, their pure flavor and natural sweetness are highly valued.
