Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has made a significant announcement regarding Spain’s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Spain will officially recognize a unified Palestinian state, comprising the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, under the authority of the Palestinian National Authority. Additionally, East Jerusalem will be acknowledged as its capital.
Reuters reports that Sánchez stressed Spain’s commitment to upholding the pre-1967 borders for Palestine and emphasized that any alterations to these borders would require consensus from all relevant parties. The Spanish government is poised to formally approve this recognition later today.
