“Chad may not have planes or billions of dollars to give, but Chad has dignity and self-respect.” President Idriss
In a bold and swift retaliation, Chad has fired back at the United States by suspending visa issuance for American citizens — a direct response to President Trump’s controversial travel ban targeting multiple countries. This tit-for-tat move has raised tensions and spotlighted the growing diplomatic fallout from sweeping US immigration restrictions.
The African country Chad has retaliated against the US travel ban by ordering a stop to issuing visas to American citizens.
Yesterday, US President Donald Trump imposed restrictions on entry to the United States for citizens of several countries, aiming to protect American citizens and interests from terrorists.
According to the White House, the countries affected by the ban include Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
In response to the US entry ban, Chad has stopped issuing visas to American citizens.
According to foreign news agencies, Chad’s President has ordered a halt on visa issuance for US citizens.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss criticized Trump, saying,
“Chad may not have planes or billions of dollars to give, but Chad has dignity and self-respect.”
Trump has banned entry to the US from 12 countries, including Iran and Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the African country Congo responded to the US ban by stating that Congo was mistakenly included in the US travel restrictions.
A spokesperson for the Congo government clarified that Congo is neither a terrorist state nor a refuge for terrorists.
