Just when you thought the India-Pakistan drama was only on TV, the real-life version has taken a turn for the digital. In a rather unexpected plot twist, the Indian government has blocked the Instagram accounts of several beloved Pakistani celebrities — including Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Sajal Aly, and Ali Zafar.

Trying to stalk your favorite star’s Eid look from across the border? Sorry — you’re now met with the cold message:
“This account is not available in India.”
Which basically means: no reels, no stories, and definitely no soft-focus selfies.

The move follows the April 22 Pahalgam attack and is part of a wider clampdown on Pakistani digital content. Already, over a dozen Pakistani YouTube channels have been banned. Now, it seems even glamorous Instagram filters aren’t safe from foreign policy.
Fans are confused and a little heartbroken. One user joked, “How am I supposed to plan my mehndi outfit without stalking Mahira?” Another asked, “Blocking Hania for world peace — really?”
A viral video even showed a group of Indian youngsters sending bottled water to Hania Aamir — a tongue-in-cheek dig at the recently suspended Indus Waters Treaty. Because clearly, no one’s missing the chance to turn diplomacy into meme material.
While politicians talk security, fans just want their drama — on screen and off. But as history has shown, where there’s Wi-Fi, there’s always a way.
