Now, residents and workers of Dubai Silicon Oasis can have their food, medicine, and other essentials delivered straight to their doorstep by drones!
Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, officially launched the Middle East’s first-ever drone delivery system at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO). The groundbreaking service is set to revolutionize the way people in the city receive their daily essentials.
In a cool move, Sheikh Hamdan placed the first order himself, which was successfully delivered through the new system using the Rochester Institute of Technology-Dubai (RIT-Dubai) platform.
These drones are designed to zip across the city with low-noise propellers, parachutes, and flight control systems to make deliveries smoother and quieter than ever before.
Over the last few months, Dubai Silicon Oasis has been running trial operations with partners like DCAA and Keeta Drone, and it looks like the future of delivery is airborne!
According to Mohammed Abdullah Al Junaibi, Director General of DCAA, drone delivery will cover 33% of Dubai by 2030. The aim is to open up new opportunities by regulating and expanding drone usage.
Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for AI and Digital Economy, was also at the launch event, showing the government’s commitment to shaping the future of tech in the UAE.
Get ready for a whole new world of convenience with drone deliveries coming your way!
