Saba Rashid Makes History: Pakistan’s First Female Nunchaku World Record Holder

-

Pakistani martial artist Saba Rashid has created history by becoming Pakistan’s first female athlete to set a Guinness World Record in the Nunchaku category.

Her record for performing the “Figure of Eight” with nunchaku in one minute has officially been approved. Saba completed 138 flawless rotations, surpassing the previous record of 120, which was held by India’s Kiran Uniyal.

Guinness World Records opened this achievement under a new category on its official website, where full details have now been published. Saba Rashid has also received the official confirmation email approving the record.

This is Saba Rashid’s second Guinness World Record. Earlier, she set a record in the Elbow Strike category, delivering 680 elbow strikes in three minutes, once again defeating India’s Kiran Uniyal.

Saba Rashid belongs to a legendary record-breaking family. She is the wife of Rashid Naseem, Pakistan’s most decorated Guinness World Record holder. Their daughter holds 8 world records in the female category, while their son earned a world record at just 6 years old. Even Rashid Naseem’s father has represented Pakistan with multiple Guinness records.

Speaking after her achievement, Saba Rashid said that seeing her children, father-in-law, and academy students become world record holders inspired her to chase this dream as well. However, she expressed disappointment over the lack of government-level recognition, saying no official contact or appreciation has been extended so far — despite repeatedly breaking Indian records.

Her achievement stands as a powerful symbol of Pakistani women excelling on the global stage, even in the absence of formal recognition.
