Pakistani karate legend and martial arts pioneer Ashraf Tai was admitted to a private hospital on Monday after facing breathing complications, prompting renewed calls for government support.
According to a spokesperson from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Tai was initially treated in the emergency ward before being shifted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU). His condition is said to be improving.
Tai’s wife has once again appealed to the authorities for assistance, urging the government to step in and support the ailing sports icon during this difficult time.
Earlier this year, in March, the Sindh government extended financial aid of Rs 2 million to Tai. The assistance was delivered at his residence by Director Sports Asad Ishaq, under the instructions of Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Baksh Mahar and Sports Secretary Abdul Aleem Lashari. The gesture came in response to Tai’s earlier plea for help amid ongoing health and financial struggles.
Minister Mahar had called Ashraf Tai a national asset, assuring that the government would continue to stand by him and provide whatever support was needed.
