Rohit Sharma Declines Speach at PM’s Dinner Amid Rift with Coach Gambhir

-

As India’s five-match Test series against Australia continues, captain Rohit Sharma is facing a rough patch on the field, and off-field tensions are adding to the drama. Rumors about a rift between Rohit and head coach Gautam Gambhir have surfaced, following a surprising incident during a recent official event.

Rohit, who had missed the first Test due to personal commitments, has struggled with the bat since the Adelaide Test, scoring just 31 runs across five innings. But it is the events off the field that have attracted significant attention in recent days.

The Indian team was invited to a New Year’s dinner hosted by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, where Rohit was initially scheduled to deliver a speech. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Rohit refused to speak at the last moment, and instead, head coach Gautam Gambhir took over the stage, addressing the audience on behalf of the team.

This incident has fueled speculation about a growing divide between the captain and the coach, as internal tensions within the dressing room continue to make headlines. When asked about team dynamics in a pre-match press conference, Gambhir appeared visibly upset, dismissing media inquiries into the team’s private matters.

With the fifth and final Test match set to begin on January 3, India’s battle in the series now extends beyond the cricket field, with both on-field performances and off-field relationships under intense scrutiny.
