LAHORE: In a major move ahead of the T20I series against Bangladesh, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson as the new head coach for the national white-ball team. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi made the announcement via X, confirming that Hesson will officially take charge on May 26.
“Thrilled to welcome Mike Hesson,” Naqvi wrote. “His global experience and proven track record in building competitive teams will be vital in shaping Pakistan’s white-ball future.”
The appointment comes just before Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against Bangladesh, though scheduling adjustments are expected due to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 final, which now overlaps with the original May 25 opener in Faisalabad.
Hesson, known for his tactical acumen, coached New Zealand from 2012 to 2018, guiding the team through a golden era. His success in the high-pressure Indian Premier League (IPL) further cements his reputation as a master strategist — now poised to lead Pakistan’s white-ball resurgence.
