In a strong move to enforce contractual discipline, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned South African allrounder Corbin Bosch from participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for one year. The action follows Bosch’s withdrawal from the 2025 edition of the tournament, despite being selected as a diamond pick by Peshawar Zalmi during the PSL draft.
Bosch’s exit came after he was signed by the Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Given the scheduling clash between PSL and IPL this year, the PCB viewed his decision as a breach of contract and issued a legal notice. The board has stated that the ban is intended to set a precedent and discourage similar withdrawals in future editions, especially as the two leagues continue to compete for player availability.
To ensure player commitment, the PSL had deliberately scheduled its draft after the IPL auction, targeting high-profile players who went unsold. This year’s draft attracted names like David Warner, Daryl Mitchell, Jason Holder, Rassie van der Dussen, and Kane Williamson.
Bosch, who has yet to make his debut in IPL 2025, released a formal apology through the PCB:
🗣 Corbin Bosch’s Apology to Pakistan and Peshawar Zalmi Fans
“I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi, and the wider cricket community.
The HBL PSL is a prestigious tournament, and I fully understand the disappointment caused by my actions. To the loyal Peshawar Zalmi fans — I am truly sorry for letting you down.
Earlier this year, I was picked as a diamond player by Peshawar Zalmi at the PSL draft. However, I later withdrew from the tournament after being signed by Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement in the IPL, which clashed with the PSL schedule. This led to a legal notice from the PCB, citing a breach of contract. I accept the one-year ban and penalty fine issued by the PCB, who aim to set a precedent to discourage players from switching leagues after being drafted.
I take full responsibility for my actions. This has been a tough lesson, but I am committed to learning from it and hope to return to the PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans.”
PSL 10 officially begins on April 11, with defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi — a city hosting a record 11 matches this season.
