Boom Boom Afridi – Shahid Afridi to Reveal ‘Behind-the-Scene’ Dynamics of Pakistani Team After T20 World Cup

-

Shahid Afridi, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, has hinted at the possibility of revealing the “behind-the-scenes” details about the current squad participating in the ongoing T20 World Cup after the tournament concludes.

In an interview with a local TV channel, Afridi was questioned about the team’s lack of cohesion. In response, Afridi, who also served as chief selector, alluded to Mohammad Wasim, a member of the selection panel, indicating that both of them are privy to certain information but are unable to speak openly about it.

Afridi stressed that the captain bears the primary responsibility for fostering team unity.
“The captain can either create a positive atmosphere within the team or contribute to its deterioration,” he remarked.

The former all-rounder highlighted the significant roles played by coaches and team management but emphasized that it’s ultimately the captain who brings the team together, with support from the selection committee. “On the field, it is the captain’s duty to instill fighting spirit in the team.”

Afridi expressed reluctance to discuss his relationship with fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, citing concerns about potential accusations of bias due to their familial connection. He clarified his intention to remain impartial, asserting that he would hold his daughter, son, or son-in-law accountable if they were at fault.

Regarding recent decisions made by the selection committee and the cricket board, Afridi criticized them for substantial mistakes. He pledged to address these issues openly after the World Cup, stating that it was individuals within their own ranks who had contributed to the team’s lack of unity.
