Christopher Nolan’s epic new film The Odyssey has made waves online after its first trailer — meant only for cinemas — was leaked on social media.
The 1-minute teaser features Tom Holland as Telemachus and Matt Damon as the legendary Odysseus, lost at sea after the Trojan War. The trailer ends with a haunting shot of Odysseus on a wrecked raft, stirring excitement and mystery.
Jon Bernthal appears in a cryptic role, while Anne Hathaway plays Penelope, holding things down back home in Ithaca as suitors circle. The cast also includes Zendaya (Athena), Lupita Nyong’o (Calypso), Charlize Theron (Circe), and Robert Pattinson (Hermes).
Despite efforts to keep it exclusive, a low-quality version quickly surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) after its cinema debut.
With a $250 million budget, the film is shaping up to be Nolan’s biggest yet. It’s set to hit theatres and IMAX on July 17, 2026.
