A leaked voice note has revealed a deeply personal moment between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, as he expressed regret over a disagreement on the set of It Ends With Us—just as their legal feud reaches a boiling point.
The nearly seven-minute recording, published by TMZ on Monday, reportedly captures Baldoni apologizing for making Lively feel undervalued during filming. The message, allegedly sent in April 2023, begins with a sincere acknowledgment of a text from Lively voicing her frustration.
“I want to start with an apology,” Baldoni says, his voice filled with remorse. “My heart sank when I read your text… I for sure fell short, and you worked really hard on that. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing that with me. That takes a lot of trust and vulnerability.”
Baldoni, who directed and starred in the film, admitted his imperfections but assured Lively of his efforts to do better. “I’m a very flawed man. I’m gonna f*** up. I’m going to say the wrong thing. I’m going to put my foot in my mouth… but I will always apologize and find my way back to center,” he told her.
The leak comes at a pivotal moment, as Lively has filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment on set and of orchestrating a smear campaign after the film’s August 2023 release. Baldoni has denied the allegations and countersued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist Leslie Sloane. The case is set to go to trial in March 2026.
In the recording, Baldoni also praised Lively’s script rewrites, recalling a meeting at her New York home where Reynolds and Taylor Swift reportedly commended her work. “I don’t need Ryan or Taylor to stand up for your rewrites,” he assured her. “They’re really good, and it’s going to make the movie sing.”
The disagreement over the rooftop scene had already made headlines during the film’s press tour when Lively credited Reynolds for his input, a revelation that surprised screenwriter Christy Hall.
As their legal battle intensifies, the leaked voice note offers a glimpse into the emotional complexities of their working relationship—one that began with creative trust but has now unraveled into a high-stakes courtroom clash.
