Indian actress Swara Bhasker has lashed out at the world’s indifference to the mass killings and war crimes in Gaza, particularly the deaths of children in Israel’s ongoing bombardment.
In a powerful social media post, Swara — who is married to a Muslim political figure — wrote, “Israel is not just destroying Gaza; it’s destroying the humanity within us.”
She expressed deep grief and rage over the horrific bombing of Al-Nasr Hospital, where several people, including a journalist, were reportedly burned alive.
“I try to take a good selfie, post cute pictures of my daughter, do my makeup, shop online… but none of it can stop my mind from drifting back to Gaza,” she wrote.
Swara described haunting scenes she sees daily: parents carrying their children’s lifeless bodies, kids’ heads severed by bombs, and people wandering with their loved ones’ remains in plastic bags. “Today, someone was burned alive in a tent — and we’re all watching this genocide in silence,” she said.
Calling Israel’s assault on Gaza “the worst war crimes,” she added, “It’s all happening live on our phones — and we can’t pretend it’s not. We’re growing numb. Scrolling social media or shopping online won’t save humanity.”
She warned against normalizing the slaughter of children and the bombing of schools and hospitals, blaming the Western world for making such horrors seem routine. “We must not close our eyes. Raise your voice against genocide,” she urged.
