In a major development, Mumbai Police have arrested a suspect accused of threatening Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan with death.
According to reports, the suspect, a resident of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, was detained on Tuesday after allegedly making threatening calls about Khan. The Bandra Police Station had received a call last week warning of harm to the actor and demanding a payment of 5 million rupees. Police immediately filed charges under several sections to investigate the matter.
Following an investigation, authorities linked the call to a phone number registered to Faizan Khan, a lawyer based in Raipur. When Faizan failed to respond to a summons, Mumbai Police took him into custody for questioning.
Faizan claims his phone was stolen on November 2 and that he filed a complaint at Khamardih Police Station in Raipur. He insists that his stolen phone was used to make the threat, describing the incident as part of a conspiracy against him.
In a statement to the media, Faizan explained, “I reported my stolen phone to the police and informed Mumbai authorities, who then questioned me for two hours.” He also mentioned previously objecting to a line in Shah Rukh Khan’s 1994 film Anjaam about deer hunting, noting his connection to Rajasthan’s Bishnoi community, known for its dedication to wildlife protection.
While Bollywood actor Salman Khan has received multiple death threats from the Bishnoi gang, this is the first known threat made against Shah Rukh Khan.
