Non-payment of fine to result in property seizure, ID and passport block
The Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh has ordered the removal of KE CEO Monis Alvi from his position after harassment allegations against him were proven. A fine of Rs. 2.5 million has also been imposed.
The case was filed by Mehrin Zahra, former Chief Marketing Officer at KE, who alleged that she was subjected to harassment and mental distress by Alvi. The Ombudsman has ruled that the fine must be paid within one month. If not, Alvi’s moveable and immovable assets may be seized, and his national identity card and passport could also be blocked.
Monis Alvi responded to the verdict on X (formerly Twitter), stating that he has always upheld values of integrity and dignity in professional relationships. He called the decision “deeply painful” and said it does not reflect the reality of his experience. He added that he respects the legal process and intends to appeal after consulting his legal counsel.
This ruling is being seen as a significant step toward accountability at the highest levels of corporate leadership in Pakistan.
