Polio remains a persistent threat in Pakistan, with two new cases recently reported, underscoring the ongoing challenges in eradicating the disease.
Two new polio cases have been confirmed in Pakistan, one in Tank and the other in Kashmore districts, heightening concerns about the disease’s continued presence.
The National Institute of Health (NIH) verified the cases, bringing the total number of polio cases in the country this year to 67.
Reports indicate that Tank recorded its fourth case of the year, while Kashmore documented its second. The distribution of cases includes 27 in Balochistan, 19 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 19 in Sindh.
Punjab and Islamabad each reported a case earlier this year.
Moreover, earlier this month, the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that a child from Jacobabad had contracted polio, raising the district’s total to four cases.
