Top-level probe ordered – Big names under the microscope!
KARACHI – A jaw-dropping financial scandal has rocked the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Karachi, with an explosive Rs40 billion corruption case exposed in the latest government audit!
The audit report for 2023–24, issued by the Sindh Directorate General of Audit, has shaken the foundations of one of the country’s top heart hospitals, triggering an immediate reaction from Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho.
Wasting no time, she ordered a high-priority inquiry and formed a two-member investigation team consisting of top health department officers. The committee has just 15 days to get to the bottom of it!

But wait — the hospital’s response?
NICVD officials are playing it cool, claiming the audit points are “routine” and have nothing to do with actual corruption. According to them, many flagged issues go as far back as 2017–2018, before the current Executive Director even took charge!
“The audit isn’t proof of wrongdoing,” insists NICVD’s spokesperson. “We’re committed to transparency and will clear the air on every single point.”
Still, the damage is done. The numbers are staggering, the questions are serious, and all eyes are now on NICVD. Will this be Pakistan’s biggest hospital scandal yet?
Stay tuned… The countdown to accountability has begun.
