74 and Still Laying: The World’s Oldest Bird Breaks Records with 60th Egg!

-

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently shared a fascinating update on Facebook about “Wisdom,” a legendary Laysan albatross with some serious senior vibes. This incredible seabird just returned to the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge near Hawaii and, believe it or not, laid what’s estimated to be her 60th egg!

Here’s the cool part: Laysan albatrosses only lay one egg a year, and Wisdom, who’s been nesting at this spot since 2006, is still going strong. She made her grand return last week, and experts are crossing their fingers that this egg hatches into her newest chick.

Jonathan Lisner, from the refuge, shared how Wisdom is part of an annual tradition where hundreds of seabirds return to this protected area to build nests and raise their little ones.

Talk about breaking records and staying relevant—Wisdom is the ultimate symbol of resilience!
