A surprise guest flapped into the spotlight during the third ODI between England and the West Indies — and no, it wasn’t a late team substitution.
A flock of pigeons swooped onto the field at London’s Kennington Oval, briefly halting the match. While most birds bolted as Matthew Potts geared up to throw, one feathery rebel stood its ground. Potts gave chase, trying to catch the lone pigeon, but it eventually flew off — leaving the crowd amused and the game back on track.
Cricket’s never short of drama, but this time, it came with wings.
Traffic Chaos The Match :
Another curious twist unfolded ahead of the final ODI between England and West Indies at The Oval on Tuesday, as the West Indies team got stuck in heavy traffic and arrived late—delaying the scheduled start.
England’s players, undeterred by the gridlock, used Lime Bikes to complete their journey and were already warming up on the field when the delay was announced.
“Due to a delayed arrival of one of the playing teams, who are stuck in heavy traffic north of the river, the scheduled start of play will be delayed,” stated the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Match officials later coordinated revised timings once both teams were present. England, leading the series 2-0 after wins in Edgbaston and Cardiff, won the toss and chose to bowl first.
