How a 10-Euro Harry Potter Book Became a 36,000-Euro Goldmine ?

-

In a world where rare collectibles are breaking records, a first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone has taken everyone by surprise with its insane price tag.

Bought for just 10 euros back in 1997, this legendary book was recently sold for a mind-blowing 36,000 euros — that’s over 10 million Pakistani rupees!

Christine McClutch, who picked up the book for her son Adam in Stratford in the ’90s, never imagined it would become such a goldmine after 30 years.

According to Hansons Auctioneers, this book, worth anywhere from 30,000 to 50,000 euros, is one of just 500 copies ever published from the original Philosopher’s Stone series.

Adam McClutch told the BBC that the book had been gathering dust in a cupboard at their old house in Chesterfield.

It wasn’t until 2020, during lockdown, that Adam stumbled upon stories about the incredible value of the first edition and realized he had a hidden treasure on his hands.
