A significant milestone in Pakistan’s domestic air travel is approaching, as a private airline plans to begin operations to several smaller cities next year.
The new routes are expected to start in the second quarter of 2025, connecting destinations such as Sukkur, Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Gwadar.
Director General Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority Nader Shafi announced that this initiative aims to connect major and secondary airports, improving air travel accessibility for residents in these regions.
The airline plans to operate at least three small aircraft, each capable of seating 40 to 50 passengers.
This move addresses the substantial travel demand, with around 30 million people relying on buses, trains, and other transportation options to travel between Pakistan’s northern and southern areas each year.
Shafi highlighted that competitive pricing on these routes could yield significant profits for the airline while offering travelers a faster and more comfortable means of transportation.
He expressed optimism that these new flights will positively impact local economies and enhance connectivity for residents of smaller cities.
