FBR Dismisses Rumors of Amnesty Scheme for Smuggled Vehicles

-

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has addressed recent rumors about a proposed amnesty scheme for smuggled vehicles, stating that no such scheme is currently being considered by the federal government.

In an official statement, the FBR spokesperson clarified that these rumors circulating on social media are unfounded and urged the public to disregard such misinformation.

The FBR emphasized that there is no plan to regularize smuggled vehicles through an amnesty scheme. The Board called for vigilance against false claims and reassured that any updates on tax policies would be officially communicated.

In related news, the new tax rates for locally manufactured vehicles, effective from July 1 under the 2024-25 budget, reflect a shift from fixed tax rates to a value-based system.

This adjustment, outlined in the Finance Bill 2024-25, means that vehicle taxes will now vary according to the vehicle’s value rather than being a flat rate.
