Cooking Oil Prices Skyrocket-A Surge in Essential Food Costs

-

The cost of cooking ingredients has risen further due to a significant increase in the prices of major ghee and cooking oil brands.

During this price hike, the price of cooking oil has gone up by 80 rupees per kilogram, bringing it to 570 rupees. Some major brands have raised their prices by up to 100 rupees per kilogram or liter. The primary reason for this increase is the change in palm oil prices, which have now reached between 1290-1300 dollars per ton.

According to details, the SPI index showed a 0.38% rise in inflation, primarily caused by the price increases of tomatoes, firewood, vegetable ghee, cooking oil, and sugar.

For example, the price of a 5-kilogram pack of Meezan cooking oil has reached 3100 rupees, the price of a 5-liter carton of Meezan canola oil is 2800 rupees, and a 5-liter carton of Sufi canola cooking oil now costs 2900 rupees. Additionally, the price of a 3-liter bottle of original cooking oil has risen to 1585 rupees.
