Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry told the Senate that the PTI founder enjoys special privileges no other prisoner in Pakistan has ever received.
His remarks came after PTI protested in the Senate over being denied a meeting with their party founder. Senator Faisal Javed demanded to know when the visit would be allowed.
Responding to the criticism, Talal Chaudhry said the PTI founder has six large barracks, a personal cook, and exercise machines — facilities ordinary inmates cannot even imagine.
As Chaudhry spoke, the opposition erupted in protest, accusing the government of political bias.
Talal Chaudhry further claimed that the PTI founder’s family meets him separately, while his lawyers and other visitors meet him at scheduled intervals. He accused PTI of using the jail as a “political drama stage,” saying the party lost the by-election and is now trying to gain attention through theatrics.
