The incident unfolded during Pakistan’s innings when opener Fakhar Zaman, who was on 15 off just 9 balls, edged a delivery from Hardik Pandya. Indian wicketkeeper Sanju Samson claimed a low catch, but replays were inconclusive, with multiple angles showing the ball perilously close to the ground. Yet, the third umpire, Ruchira Palliyaguruge, gave the decision as OUT.

The call immediately sparked a firestorm of criticism. On commentary, legendary pacer Waqar Younis expressed his astonishment, calling the decision a baffling one that could change the momentum of the game.

Pakistan captain Salman Agha stated in the post-match press conference that

“Umpires can make mistakes. To me, it looked like it bounced.”

He added that he could be wrong as well, but the moment was clearly debatable.

Social media exploded with reactions from Pakistan’s top cricketers.

  • Mohammad Amir simply tweeted: “Fakhar was not out that’s the tweet
