Bangladesh-Anti Graft Case Against Hasina, Family, & Global Officials

-

In a shocking turn of events, Bangladesh’s anti-graft commission has launched high-stakes corruption charges against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her influential family. The cases also involve a British government minister and a senior United Nations official.

The allegations center on a massive land grab of prime real estate near Dhaka, with accusations that Hasina and her family used their political power for personal gain.

Sheikh Hasina, 77, who fled Bangladesh in 2024 during a political crisis, is accused of orchestrating the illegal allocation of land to herself and her relatives. Among those implicated are her niece, British anti-corruption minister Tulip Siddiq, and her daughter, Saima Wazed, a senior official with the World Health Organization.

The anti-corruption commission claims it has gathered damning evidence, with further shocking revelations expected as the investigation unfolds.

These cases are part of a wider probe into a $5 billion embezzlement scandal linked to a Russian-funded nuclear project, further escalating the political drama surrounding Hasina and her family.
