-

In the aftermath of the tragic events of May 9, 25 individuals involved in the attacks have been sentenced to prison terms ranging from 2 to 10 years.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), those involved in the attack on Jinnah House, including Jan Muhammad Khan and Muhammad Imran Mehboob, received 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. Similar sentences were given to those involved in the GHQ attack, such as Raja Muhammad Ihsan.

Additionally, individuals involved in various attacks, such as the Punjab Regimental Centre Mardan and PAF Base Mianwali, received sentences ranging from 2 to 10 years. Some of the attackers, like Muhammad Afaq Khan, received 9 years, while others like Zia ur Rehman and Ali Iftikhar got 10 years.

The ISPR emphasized that these sentences serve as a warning to those who engage in violence and lawlessness. Furthermore, it was stated that justice would be fully realized when the masterminds and planners behind the May 9 events are punished according to the law. The sentences also highlighted the severity of the political violence and its devastating impact on the nation, particularly the attacks on military installations.

The ISPR concluded by reaffirming the state’s commitment to ensuring justice and the rule of law. It emphasized that no one should be allowed to impose their will through political terrorism, and all offenders have the right to appeal the verdicts.
