The Punjab Excise Department has launched a vanity number plates initiative, allowing citizens to personalize their vehicle registration plates through an online bidding system. The project aims to boost public engagement and generate national revenue.
The scheme was inaugurated at Alhamra Hall, Lahore, with key officials in attendance. Excise Secretary Masood Mukhtar announced that citizens can now have their names displayed on vehicle plates, noting strong public interest in the initiative.
Three categories—Platinum, Gold, and Corporate—have been introduced to cater to a wide range of applicants. Mukhtar also revealed plans to extend the application deadline to encourage greater participation.
Excise Director General Umar Sher Chattha emphasized the program’s potential to generate substantial revenue for the national treasury while ensuring transparency and ease of access through the online bidding process.
