Government Moves to Revoke Passports, ID Cards of Protesters Who Targeted Ex-CJP Faiz Isa in London

-

In response to a recent protest in London against former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that the government will cancel the CNICs and passports of those involved.

Naqvi has instructed the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to identify the protesters from video footage and initiate legal proceedings. This includes filing a First Information Report (FIR) in Pakistan, with the potential for the cases to be presented to the cabinet to consider citizenship cancellation.

The protest, organized by PTI supporters, including Imran Khan’s former aides Sayed Zulfi Bukhari and Maleeka Bokhari, coincided with Isa’s attendance at an event by The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in honor of his recent elevation. British lawyer Barrister Mark McDonald also participated, criticizing Middle Temple’s decision to recognize Isa.

The Middle Temple, a prestigious London-based legal institution where Isa and his father studied law, is one of four Inns of Court that provides training and grants licenses for the legal profession. Isa’s recent election as a bencher there marks him as the first Pakistani judge to receive this distinction.
