Artificial Intelligence (AI) Godfather, renowned scientist Geoffrey Hinton, has issued a warning to humanity regarding the technology he created after winning the Nobel Prize in Physics for the year 2024.
The 76-year-old professor from the University of Toronto compared the industrial revolution of machine learning and AI, stating that it will significantly impact the future of humanity.
However, he also expressed concerns about the potential for these systems to become ‘uncontrollable.’
Geoffrey stated, “Instead of surpassing humans in physical strength, it will exceed them in mental capabilities.
People will be able to accomplish as much work in a short time with AI assistants, but there is always the risk of these things becoming uncontrollable.”
He further expressed his fear that “systems will become more intelligent than humans and ultimately take control themselves.”
Geoffrey Hinton mentioned that he has used AI tools like ChatGPT-4 for nearly everything, but he noted that it is not a very good expert, which he believes is a positive aspect.
