MDCAT 2024 – Cheating Scandal Uncovered in Quetta, 50 Students Arrested

-

A major cheating network was uncovered during the Medical College Admission Test (MDCAT 2024) in Quetta, resulting in the arrest of 50 students.

Authorities, acting on intelligence from federal agencies, dismantled the cheating operation, which involved two facilitators, including a retired Federal Public Service Commission official. The students were caught using Bluetooth devices, purchased for 100,000 rupees each, to cheat during the exam.

Many of the arrested students were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, specifically registering in Quetta for the test. Both facilitators involved in the operation were also apprehended. Investigations are ongoing to expose the full extent of the cheating network.

MDCAT 2024 exams were conducted nationwide on Sunday. There were also reports of mismanagement in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.

Responding to these complaints, Dr. Sarosh Lodhi, Vice Chancellor of NED University, clarified that the university was not responsible for the disorganization during the test held at NED and Dow Ojha Campus. He stressed that the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) was in charge of all administrative and security matters.
