After Karachi Bakery got “patriotically purified,” Indian hyper-nationalism has found its next delicious target — desserts. Yes, Jaipur sweet shops are now doing what even war couldn’t: renaming sweets in the name of the nation.
Because clearly, Mysore Pak was a bigger threat than missiles.
In a move that’s equal parts absurd and sugar-coated, legendary sweets are getting tricolour makeovers:
Mysore Pak → Mysore Shree
Moti Pak → Moti Shree
Aam Pak, Gond Pak, Chandi Pak? All proudly joining the Shree Sena
Apparently, “Pak” now automatically stands for Pakistan — not Pakwan, not tradition, not your grandma’s favourite recipe.
A local halwai, trying hard not to laugh, said, “Same sweet, sir. Just more patriotism per calorie.” Another one added, “Our laddoo is now ISO certified in nationalism.”
One elite mithai shop owner dramatically declared, “If soldiers can guard borders, mithai can guard emotions.” Goosebumps, right?
