Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman Announces Nationwide membership drive of Jamat e Islami

-

Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has launched a nationwide membership drive, aiming to recruit five million new members across Pakistan.

Speaking at Mansoorah, he criticized the ruling elite, including political dynasties and institutions, for their failure to deliver effective governance, accusing them of enriching themselves while neglecting basic public needs.

Rehman condemned past governments for prioritizing Independent Power Producers (IPPs) over public interests, noting that IPPs receive more in capacity charges than the defense budget and benefit from tax exemptions, leaving ordinary citizens to bear heavy taxes.

He also criticized large landowners for evading taxes and questioned the IMF’s silence on the matter.

Concerned about the bleak prospects for the country’s youth, many of whom are leaving the country, Rehman announced that Jamaat-e-Islami would mobilize the public to fight for their rights.

The party plans to form public committees and launch a peaceful resistance movement focused on democracy, rule of law, freedom of speech, and access to health and education, including women’s rights.

He emphasized the inclusion of youth and women in the party’s ranks, with land and electoral reforms as key agenda items.
