Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Seek Bail in New Toshakhana Case Involving Saudi Jewelry

-

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, have submitted separate post-arrest bail applications in the recently surfaced Toshakhana case, which revolves around a jewelry set gifted by the Saudi crown prince.

Both are currently held in Adiala Jail on judicial remand.

The bail pleas were filed through their legal representative, Barrister Salman Safdar, under Section 9(b) of the National Accountability Ordinance 1999 and Section 497 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

The applications name the state and the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as respondents and argue that granting bail is essential in the “interest of justice and fair play.”

This legal move follows the filing of a Toshakhana reference by the NAB last week, which has placed both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in custody.

The couple’s legal team is advocating for their release on the grounds of fairness, as the case progresses through the accountability court.
