Azerbaijan President’s Visit Strengthens Ties: 15 MoUs Signed with Pakistan

Pakistan and Azerbaijan finalized 15 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements on Thursday to boost cooperation across various sectors such as trade, commerce, tourism, minerals, science and technology, law, justice, and cultural exchange programs.

The signing ceremony at the PM House was witnessed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev.

Among the key agreements, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, alongside Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Samir Sharifov, signed an MoU on Consular Affairs between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov inked a Preferential Trade Agreement.

Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan and Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov signed an MoU on cooperation in privatization of state property.

An agreement on Transit Trade, a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between Ministries of Justice, and a cooperation MoU on mineral resources and geology were also finalized.

Minister for Heritage and Culture Attaullah Tarar and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Samir Sharifov signed a Cultural Exchange Program for 2024-2029.

Further agreements included cooperation in information technology, a twinning link between Baku and Islamabad, collaboration between broadcasting corporations, scientific and technological cooperation, tourism, and literature.

Additionally, an Air Services Agreement was established between the two governments.
