Breaking Boundaries: 500 Sixes in T20 World Cup

In the history of the T20 World Cup, for the first time, a record of 500 sixes has been set in a single edition.

During the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup hosted jointly by America and the West Indies, Indian cricketer Akshar Patel hit the 500th six in the history of mega events.

In the host countries’ T20 World Cup, 500 sixes were hit across 51 matches, averaging approximately 9.8 sixes per match.

In the 45 matches of the 2021 World Cup, 405 sixes were hit, while in the 42 matches of the 2022 mega event, 331 sixes were hit. In the 2016 edition, 314 sixes were hit, and in the 2014 edition, 300 sixes were hit.

Additionally, in the 2010 edition comprising 27 matches, a total of 278 sixes were hit overall.
