Punjab Hit by Deadly Storm-Extensive Damage

-

A devastating storm wreaked havoc across parts of Punjab, claiming six lives and leaving over 40 injured.

In Gujranwala, four individuals, including two children, tragically lost their lives as walls and roofs collapsed amid the fierce winds and rain.

Narowal witnessed a similar scene, with 30 people, including women, sustaining injuries from falling walls, trees, and electricity poles.

The impact extended to Sialkot, where 13 people were wounded by the ferocious storm. Meanwhile, in Khushab district, two brothers fell victim to lightning strikes, casting a shadow of grief over their family.

While Lahore and other cities experienced a temporary respite from scorching temperatures due to a dust storm and scattered showers, the Met office warns of more inclement weather to come.

Dust-raising winds, followed by light rains, are anticipated to persist over the next three days in several Punjab towns, courtesy of a westerly wave affecting the upper and central regions of the country.

The forecast predicts further rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms in various parts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Faisalabad. While Thursday may bring temporary relief, with mainly hot and dry weather prevailing, isolated areas remain at risk of further storms.
