Utah was rocked by political violence as Charlie Kirk — Turning Point USA founder, conservative firebrand, and Donald Trump’s closest young ally — was shot dead by a sniper during a speech at Utah Valley University.
Eyewitnesses say panic erupted when a bullet fired from nearly 200 yards away struck Kirk in the neck mid-speech. Despite being rushed to Timpanogos Regional Hospital, doctors could not save him.
The FBI confirmed an active manhunt, calling it a “targeted political assassination” aimed at silencing one of America’s most influential right-wing voices.
Kirk, just 31, was hailed as the “youth face of Trump’s movement” and had expanded Turning Point USA to 3,500+ college campuses, energizing conservative students nationwide.
A heartbroken Donald Trump reacted on Truth Social: “Charlie wasn’t just a friend — he was a patriot, a fighter, a true American hero. This is a devastating loss for me and for millions who loved him.”
In tribute, the White House lowered flags to half-mast, while Utah Governor Spencer Cox vowed to hunt down those responsible, declaring: “Political violence has no place in America.”
The shocking assassination has sent tremors through U.S. politics, raising fears of a dangerous new era of violence ahead of the elections.
