It takes me just three minutes to make a country say, ‘No, no, I’m doing it,’ says the US president during his WEF address in Davos.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, US President Donald Trump declared Greenland vital to American national security, insisting that only the United States has the power to defend it.
US President Donald Trump has stated that Greenland is essential for America’s national security and that no country or group of nations is capable of protecting it except the United States. He warned that if action is taken, Greenland could host the Golden Dome missile defense system, with missiles flying over the icy region.
Addressing the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, President Trump cited historical events, recalling that Denmark surrendered to Germany within six hours during World War II, after which the US stepped in to protect both Denmark and Greenland.
Trump said American forces were deployed to Greenland, saving it during the war. After defeating Germany, Japan, and Italy, the US returned Greenland to Denmark. He added sarcastically that the US was “foolish” to do so and claimed Denmark now has only two choices: to say “yes” or “no.”
Emphasizing Greenland’s strategic importance, Trump reiterated that its security is beyond the capacity of any nation or alliance other than the US. He claimed American military power is far greater than people can imagine, pointing to Venezuela as an example.
The US president said America’s military strength—its forces, warships, and missile systems—is now 100 percent stronger than in the past. If required, he said, the Golden Dome missile system would be installed in Greenland.
Trump also claimed he helped stop eight wars, including one involving Pakistan, and stated that he does not want to use force over Greenland. He added that Canada exists because of the US, Israel’s Iron Dome is based on American technology, and NATO and European nations have received trillions of dollars in US support.
He further revealed that the US is developing the F-47 fighter jet, comparable to the B-2 bomber in stealth capability, capable of silently flying over Iran and other countries. Trump claimed Iran would have developed nuclear weapons within two months had the US not intervened.
Speaking on Ukraine, Trump said that without US and NATO support, Russian President Vladimir Putin would have taken over the entire country. He stressed that the US does not want a Third World War.
During his speech, Trump also mocked French President Emmanuel Macron for wearing stylish sunglasses, adding that it takes the US just three minutes to make another country say, “No, no, I’m doing it.”
Trump claimed the US economy was once near collapse but has now recovered, with exports reaching $150 billion and factory construction increasing by 40 percent.
He highlighted major trade deals and US dominance over China in artificial intelligence, saying AI plants would help double America’s energy capacity.
Commenting on green energy, Trump said he wants to see Europe prosper but criticized windmills across the continent as ineffective. He concluded by mentioning his Scottish mother and fully German father.
