India’s growing isolation on the global stage became glaringly obvious at the G7 Summit.
During the summit held in Canada, while world leaders were present, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was notably absent.
Global media coverage of the event barely mentioned India, and even the Indian flag was missing from prominent visuals.
India was largely sidelined at the summit due to its aggressive behavior, with Modi’s invitation appearing more symbolic than meaningful.
Earlier, despite repeated efforts, Modi failed to secure a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. This diplomatic snub sparked criticism from within India itself.
Jawhar Sircar, leader of the All India Trinamool Congress, criticized Modi, saying, “As soon as Modi arrived, Trump left — this doesn’t seem like a coincidence!”
Trump’s refusal to meet Modi deeply disappointed both the Indian government and media, especially since Indian outlets had already reacted strongly to Trump’s ceasefire initiative between India and Pakistan.
Trump’s disinterest and India’s sidelining at the G7 have dealt yet another blow to Modi’s international reputation.
