Violence erupted in Uttar Pradesh as protests against the Modi government’s move to demolish the 17th-century Shahi Jama Masjid turned deadly. On Sunday, clashes between Muslim protesters and police led to at least three deaths.

The conflict began after a Hindu priest petitioned the court, claiming the mosque was built on a Hindu temple site. Following a court-ordered survey, tensions escalated, with locals throwing stones at police, who responded with tear gas.
This incident follows the recent rise of Hindu nationalist sentiments after the inauguration of a major Hindu temple by Prime Minister Modi.
